Moon musings

The moon is spookily yellow and grey,

lighting up the eerie clouds behind,

surrounded by black expanse.

The moon is sepia-tinted,

atmospheric, old-fashioned, romantic,

serene in the gentle night.

The moon is a segment of clementine orange,

a soft-edged, familiar shape,

strangely domestic for something far out in space.

PS. I noticed the moon as I drove home this evening, and this is a simply a poem about what I noticed. When I got home, I jotted these words down, and then went out to take a photo. Of course, the clouds had moved and the light effects had changed by then, and the photo wouldn’t have matched the words! So here is a photo of some clementines instead for you to enjoy ;-) .
